What could challange you?

Professor Dr. Vera Menezes, in one of her papers about Technologies and Second Language Teaching,  expresses some of the challenging that school, teachers and students are facing. Supported by Healey (2009), the researcher says that:

“Os propósitos dos parâmetros para os professores são: reconhecer a importância de se integrar à tecnologia no ensino; saber o que se espera deles em termos de conhecimento, habilidades e de implementação de currículo; entender a necessidade de aprendizagem continuada em suas carreiras profissionais; e ser desafiado a alcançar um nível maior de proficiência no uso da tecnologia na docência”.

In your point of view and according to your experience, what could the University do to challenge students in order to achieve and improve his/her technology proficiency for the teaching career?

Give you opinion, it can be very useful!!

  2. In my opinion, we (future) teachers need to have more contact with new technologies. Moreover, it would be good if there were courses to teach us how to use these new technologies. Because, in fact, our students are used to with technology and if we use it in our classes it would be easier to reach their attention.

  3. First of all, I think the University could improve its technological infrastructure with multimedia rooms, enough computers etc. The equipment is necessary, but is important recognize that it doesn’t work alone. Because of that, the teachers have to show to the students the ways and possibilities to use technology during the classes. Transferring knowledge through the new tools from 21st century is a way to teach English within a relevant context and it helps the students to understand how heterogeneous the language is.

  5. In my opinion the University could help for tray to students, giving practices orientations about how to use the material in English making use of recourses such as TV, stereo, data-show,…Besides giving the opportunity to student to prepare one class and to show , utilizing these recourses.

  6. Hello, dear Ana Regina, how are you and your friends from the project? When receiving your message about the possibility of returning to this kind of activity and when I read the text above about what could challenge me, I thought this is the greatest challenge. I'm thinking about that because I believe that, first of all, people must wish this kind of interaction. I mean, people must have a meaningful motivation for that. In other words, people must relate the activities to their needs. Thank you, very much, for having written to me again.

Some research findings!!!

This blog was a virtual space where a group of students worked collaboratively in order to discuss about lots of interesting questions related to English learning and teaching process. It was also part of a Master Degree research project from the Applied Linguistics Department of UFMT (Federal University of Mato Grosso- Brazil). Here you can download and read a dissertation text written by Ana Regina Bresolin, oriented by Dr. Danie Marcelo de Jesus, in 2011.
